January 2015 An Update about Oakwood Butchers. 2014 was a year that moved our business forward, taking us nearer to our long term goals. The demand for our cutting and packing service increased to its highest level yet, and there are already bookings into the first quarter of 2015.
Our pigherd is now in production and we have sampled our first accredited pedigree Welsh pork. The comments and feedback as to the flavour and quality of the meat have been excellent and we are eager to maintain and improve on the results so far.
We have pedigree Welsh breeding gilts and boars available for sale, some of which are from the rarer bloodlines. We hope to move this part of the business on during 2015.
Our suckler herd of South Devon cattle produced one calf this spring and spent the summer doing conservation grazing for the Hampshire Wildlife Trust. This year they have been running with a North Devon bull. We are looking forward to our next calving.
We are pleased to announce that our ‘pork with provenance’ will be available in March. It will be supplied exclusively to a small number of local businesses. Check our client list for details.
